There are many different causes of heart disease. For instance, smoking and coronary heart disease are two things that are not mutually exclusive. Let's take a look at some of the risks for coronary heart disease, because I have a feeling that it's not what you think.

The definition of a sedentary lifestyle: A sedentary lifestyle is a type of lifestyle involving little or no physical activity. A person living a sedentary lifestyle is often sitting or lying down while engaged in an activity like reading, socializing, watching television, playing video games, or using a mobile phone/computer for much of the day. A sedentary lifestyle can potentially contribute to ill health and many preventable causes of death.
A study that has been under observation since the early 1990’s has come to the conclusion that a lack of exercise, or a sedentary lifestyle is worse for your heart than smoking, diabetes and coronary heart disease. It may seem uncanny for such illnesses to affect your heart less than a non mobile body, but after 122,000 patients, physicians are pretty certain.
It is important for doctors to start conveying these statistics to their patients that do not exercise frequently. Just as you would tell a patient about a disease such as diabetes, doctors need to be extremely clear in letting patients know that not exercising has a worse effect on your heart than actual coronary heart disease.
When you compare those with an active lifestyle to those with a sedentary one, the risk that has been associated with death is 500% higher. Making the comparison between someone who is not active and someone who smokes, the risk is about three times higher. There is no age limit to the benefits of exercise. Getting active at a young age, can set you up for a lifetime of success.
Dr. Satjit Bhusri, who is a cardiologist at Lenox Hill Hospital believes that the effects of a sedentary lifestyle can be reversed. Our bodies are meant to be active, problems that occur when you are not can be fixed by adding a few changes to your lifestyle like walking around every 30 mins, and not staying in a seated position for long periods of time. Keep your body active also keeps your heart active, and on top of its game pumping blood throughout.
Doctors have longed for a prescription that can help your heart in the long run. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in this country, and every day they work towards the future where the mortality rate lessens. Doctors now can prescribe you the best drug of all, exercise. The heart is one of the strongest muscles, you have to exercise it to get the healthy lifestyle and results that you want.
